Empower: abilities Shares Inclement Weather Safety Reminder

Springfield, MO — For the safety of our consumers and our employees, empower: abilities follows Springfield Public Schools when inclement weather occurs. When SPS closes due to winter weather, the Empower: abilities office will also be closed.

We encourage everyone to stay home, stay warm, and avoid unnecessary travel during snowy and icy conditions. Winter weather significantly increases the risk of slips, falls, and accidents—especially for older adults and people with disabilities.

Winter Safety Tips:

• Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary
• Keep walkways and entrances clear of snow and ice when it is safe to do so
• Wear proper footwear with good traction
• Keep emergency supplies on hand, including medications, flashlights, and batteries
• Check in on neighbors, family members, and friends who may need extra support

While our physical office may be closed, our team continues working behind the scenes to stay connected and support our community.
